Common SAFe® for Government Questions

Behavioral changes may be the most difficult organizational change and there are many strategies. I believe you need at least one executive leader to sponsor change. He/she must communicate the need for change, break down silos and bring people together, and lead by example. They must commit themselves to change before others will follow.

All teams go through Tuckman’s model of team development. Teams learn to address conflict by having candid conversations during the retrospectives. In large programs that have outside suppliers contributing to solution development should be organized as part of the development value stream. Any dependencies on them should be included in the ART planning sessions. It’s always important to communicate the vision and direction which helps to build trust. Agile practitioners should coach as a team members with respect and with the goal of helping them succeed.

Agile procurement is a favored model because of its lean and fast approach. I is guided by such principles as: • Keep procurements small and quick • Embrace a one-team, one-goal mindset • Satisfy the customer through early and continuous delivery of value • Welcome changing requirements, even late in the process

This is a large and complex question. We answer such questions in a two SAFe for government course. In the course, you’ll learn how to apply Lean-Agile and SAFe practices in a government organization so you can deliver projects with speed and quality. Improve collaboration with teams and stakeholders, mitigate risk, and efficiently use taxpayer money. © Scaled Agile, Inc.
